Why Pakistani players are banned in IPL – Here’s the answer

After the 2008 Mumbai Terror attack, political ties between India and Pakistan deteriorated, and cricketers from Pakistan were banned from playing in IPL tournaments.

Mumbai Terror Attack

On November 26th, 2008, 10 terrorists entered India from Pakistan and began a siege on the city of Mumbai. Ajmal Kasab, one of the attackers, was captured and provided details about the attack’s planning and execution by terrorist organizations in Pakistan. Pakistan pretended to be deaf and stupid about the facts that pointed to Laskar-e-Taiba as the culprits. Therefore, the Indian government severed relations with Pakistan and the BCCI forbade any Pakistani players from competing in the IPL.

Since then, IPL management has been hesitant to accept Pakistani players in the league owing to the unpredictable conduct of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the political connections between both nations.
