Troubleshooting Secure Connection Failed Error in Firefox

Firefox is a globally known web browser which has millions of active users. Firefox also provides an add-on facility which helps to speed up your job. Firefox is a reliable web browser which provides good service to the users. But still, sometimes users get into connection errors while using Firefox. Connection error on Firefox can occur due to various reasons like weak internet, SSL settings, proxy settings, etc. You can try a few manual techniques for troubleshooting the error. 

Troubleshooting Firefox connection error:

Check the internet

Whenever the connection error in Firefox appears, check your internet connection. Check the speed on your internet. If your device is connected to the router then place the device near to the router. Make sure the router is working properly. If you are using a PC then try connecting via LAN cable. Now try to run Firefox. Connection error can appear when you are using an unsecured internet connection. Connect the device to a secured internet connection and then try to run the Firefox browser. In case you have a weak internet connection then wait until your internet connection becomes stable. 

Check the Firefox SSL Settings

Firefox connection error can appear due to incorrect SSL settings. You need to check the SSL connection of your Firefox and fix them immediately. Follow the given steps for SSL settings:

1. Go to the Address Bar
2. Type About: Config
3. Press the Enter button
4. A warning message will appear on your screen
5. Click on Agree button

Type security.ssl.enable_ocsp_stapling on your search bar

Double click on the field and now try to connect to the website. If your Firefox is still showing the Secure Connection Failed error then ask Mozilla Firefox Customer Service for help.

Check the Firefox Proxy Settings

The internet connection can show errors when your device is configured via Proxy. Check the proxy server on your system for resolving the error. 

1. Go to the Firefox menu
2. Navigate to Tools menu
3. Click on the Option tab
4. Go to the Advanced panel 
5. Select the Network tab

Choose the Settings button from the Connection field

A popup will appear on your screen. Connection setting will occur on the desktop. Check for the manual proxy connection. If the manual proxy connection is configured. Verify all the protocol fields like FTP, SSL, SOCKS, HTTP etc. Click on the OK button and now try to use Firefox. In case Manual proxy connection is not selected then close the tab without making any changes.

Check the SSL configuration

The firewall may show you the connection error when the connection is not secure. Check for the website SSL configuration. If the website is not configured with SSL then you should not access it. Unsecured websites may harm your device and data.

Scan your device

Malware can also interrupt the web browser. If the browser is showing any kind of error or when you see any unknown changes on the settings of your web browser then you should immediately scan the PC with a good antivirus. You will need a reliable antivirus which has good malware detection and removal rate. Open the dashboard of your antivirus and click on the system scan option. Wait until the scanning process completes. Now restart your device and run Firefox. Check whether the connection error gets resolved or not.

Disable the firewall

Sometimes the firewall blocks the connection mistakenly. When the connection error on Firefox appears, disable the firewall of your device temporarily. Run the Firefox and check for the connection. If you are unable to fix the error then enable the firewall and ask the Firefox technical team for help.
